Erik and his team specialize in managing the entitlement and permitting process for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, providing clients with a seamless path through intricate regulatory landscapes. They collaborate with top-tier architects, engineers, geologists, and biologists to tackle the most challenging projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal agencies. Their portfolio includes successfully navigating approvals from prestigious bodies such as the California Coastal Commission, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and prominent jurisdictions including Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles, and Ventura County.

Before founding Pattern, Erik honed his expertise as a Coastal Planner for a boutique planning and entitlement firm, where he spearheaded the entitlement of luxury residential developments and Woolsey Fire re-builds in Malibu and the Santa Monica Mountains. He has also directed the development of utility-scale solar projects, overseeing the process from site acquisition to construction on sites as expansive as 80 acres.

Erik’s deep understanding of policy and infrastructure stems from his tenure as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Glendale, where he served from 2009 to 2015, including a term as chair in 2013. During this time, he also held a senior role at Cordoba Corporation, a leading planning and engineering firm, contributing to high-profile projects in transportation, water, energy, and education infrastructure.

A passionate advocate for sustainable and community-oriented development, Erik co-founded Walk Bike Glendale and serves on the Arroyo Verdugo Greenway Committee, championing projects that enhance quality of life and environmental stewardship.

Erik graduated with honors from the University of Southern California, earning both a Bachelor of Science in Policy, Planning, and Development and a Master’s degree in Planning.
